BRUCE WANTS MANNONE

Hull city manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he is ready to talk with Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone over the possibility of making the loan move to the KC stadium permanent this season. The 24-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Hull city, where he has been hugely successful.

Even though he has not been able to get the team to the Premier league, he has been able to claim a first-team spot ahead of much experienced goalkeepers. Steve Bruce’s initial target was to get Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan, whose contract with the Premier league club was coming to an end.

However, it appears that the American International has decided to stay with Aston Villa after renewing his contract. This has meant that Steve Bruce has had to look at alternatives in order to fill his first-team goalkeeper spot. The club are also looking at the possibility of bringing David Gonzalez, who is much more experienced goalkeeper. He is available on a loan deal from Brighton and Hove Albion after he has been unable to get any game time with the club in the last few seasons. Steve Bruce, though, has said that his first option would be to speak with Vito Mannone.

“Vito’s obviously done very well here by all accounts but we’ll speak with Mr Wenger when he returns from his holiday next week. I like the boy but we’ll have to see what the situation is. I thought I was close a couple of days ago but unfortunately Brad decided to stay at Villa. That’s disappointing for us because he was our No.1 choice. It’s a shame but we move on to the next one. Hopefully, by the time we get back from Portugal we’ll have someone in place,” said Steve Bruce.
