MANNONE WANTED BY HULL

Steve Bruce, the manager of Hull City, has said that he wants to sign Vito Mannone, the goalkeeper of Arsenal. Mannone had played for Hull City in the last season on a loan. Mannone performed brilliantly for the Hull City last season. Steve Bruce seems to be quite impressed with this Italian goalkeeper. As per Bruce, Mannone saved a lot of goals last season and his moves were fantastic to watch.

Earlier, there were rumors that Bruce wants to sign the goalkeeper of Aston Villa, Brad Guzan. But, Brad Guzan didn’t accept his offer and decided to continue playing for Aston Villa. Bruce said that he is looking for a good goalkeeper and Mannone could be the one. But, he also said that he hasn’t talked to Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal, yet.

Mannone joined Arsenal way back in 2005. His first match for Arsenal was against Barnet in which Arsenal won by 4-1. Due to a number of goalkeepers in the Arsenal side, Mannone was not given the regular opportunities to play till the 2009-10 season. In the beginning of the 2009-10 season, the two senior goalkeepers of Arsenal i.e. Lukasz Fabianski and Manuel Almunia got injured. So, Mannone got a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. However, he didn’t start that well. In the match against Standard Liege, two goals were scored against Arsenal in the first five minutes of the match. But, Mannone came back strongly and made some brilliant saves after that. Arsenal won that match by 3-2.

Arsenal often places Mannone on loan. He has played for Barnsley once and for Hull City twice on loan. On being asked about the rumors of his transfer to Hull City, Mannone said that if Hull City wants to sign him, their authorities should talk to the Arsenal management. However, he said that he enjoyed quite a lot while playing for Hull City in the last season.
