Mark Schwarzer has been linked with Arsenal to provide much needed experience for young goalkeepers like Vito Mannone. News emanating from the UK suggests that Portuguese club Sporting Braga have offered Portugal national team stopper Eduardo to the Gunners for around £3.4million ($AUD6million).
The deal appears to be good business for Arsene Wenger who is looking for a reliable and experienced keeper and although Eduardo is ten years younger than Schwarzer, his knowhow as Portugal and Braga’s number one indicates that Arsenal may not be as hell bent on the Australian veteran as they first seemed to be.
The Gunners already have Spanish gloveman Manuel Almunia, Polish pair Lukasz Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny as well as Italian youngster Vito Mannone on the books with competition for the number one position set to heat up even further.
