ARSENAL’S SEARCH FOR GOALKEEPER SET TO CONTINUE

It is no news that Arsenal are in the market for a new goalkeeper as they have been looking for one since last summer. However, they were not as serious in their hunt the last time out as they are right now. The Gunners are still undergoing a major squad overhaul as that has been one of their major goals since the appointment of Mikel Arteta as their manager several months ago.

Arteta has overseen the thorough shuffling of players at the club and has allowed a couple of them to leave the Emirates Stadium, with Gabonese international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the latest major exit from the north London outfit after he left for Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona in the January winter transfer window.

The Arsenal tactician will be looking to continue with the squad revamp when the summer transfer window opens for business in the coming months, and there are two major areas where he need to strengthen at the moment. The first area of focus is the attacking department, as he would be looking to bring in another top striker to replace Aubameyang. They could be signing more than one striker in the summer though, with Alexandre Lacazette not being trusted enough to lead the line for the club for the long term. They did try to sign DusanVlahovic from Fiorentina in January but the forward opted to sign for Juventus instead, while another attacking option on the list is Alexander Isak.

Another area of focus is the goalkeeping department. Arsenal have been in the search for a goalkeeper in recent times, with Bernd Leno expected to leave the club. They have now identified AS Monaco star Vito Mannone, with the 33-year-old catching the eye of several clubs lately. But it will be hard for Arsenal to sign him and make him a back-up option.
